One of the main reasons we acheived so much this year was the expanded committee where more hands made light work. If you feel you have a skill that you can contribute to the growth of the club or just want to have a say and add your two cents then please come along. Some of you have some great ideas (yes, you know who you are). Rather than just have them why not help implement them!

It maybe the off-season and winter in Australia but in Europe the triathlon season is just getting started. Alright moving to Europe with work makes it easier to compete but it’s still a good opportunity to represent BTC. And that’s just what Bec and I did at the weekend – the event was the first Rheinfelden Schloss triathlon (www.schloss-triathlon.de) which was a 1.9/40/10 race split between Switzerland and Germany.

Most runners will record significantly faster times when they take walk breaks because they don't slow down at the end of a long run. Thousands of time-goal-oriented veterans have improved by 10, 20, 30 minutes and more in marathons by taking walk breaks early and often in their goal races.

Bennelong Northside Orienteers Great NOSH Footrace was held on Sunday May 31, 2009. The rain held off but the damage had already been done and the tracks were wet and muddy. Just under 400 participants turned up at Lindfield Oval to take part. Balmoral Triathlon Club had 9 members racing.

Ironman 70.3 Austria started at with ideal weather conditions at Lake Viehofner See. About 10,000 spectators attended the swim start two watch the 1,929 participants and 71 teams start the 1.9km swim, 90 km cycle and 21.1km run.

Steve Larsen's dramatic win at Ironman Lake Placid in 2001 thanks to a blazing bike ride proved that he was not only one of the world's premier cyclists, he was also one of the world's best Ironman triathletes, too. Larson died on Tuesday evening after he collapsed.

The day was gorgeous, at least to start off with and we also managed overcast weather on the bike and run and finally a torrential downpour by the time I was at the finish line clapping on everyone who was still competing.
