TWO WORLD CHAMPIONS, a silver medallist and a bronze medallist at World Duathlon Champs

We are super proud to announce that BTC now has TWO WORLD CHAMPIONS amongst us, a SILVER medallist and a BRONZE medallist after the ITU World Duathlon Championships last weekend! From what we know, that is a ridiculous FOUR FROM FOUR result from our team!

The ITU World Duathlon Championships were held in the beautiful Adelaide this year and it was a stunning day with the city closing down some of the major roads to allow for a beautiful course around the Torrens River, North Adelaide and the city.

Dean Degan in the male 40-44 age group and the ever-young Hannelore Paxton in the female 75-79 age group are our new WORLD CHAMPIONS! Both racing in the sprint distance event, Dean took the win in his age group by just 16 seconds with Hannelore winning her age group by a whopping 12 minutes!

Jo Cowan had a brilliant race in the female 60-64 age group race to take silver in a very quick time of 1:18:19.

Our fourth world championship medallist is the ever-consistent Caroline Sweeney who over the years has notched up some incredible age group and open category results. She is only recently back racing and was super strong in the female 35-39 standard distance event to take third.

Congratulations to our amazing team! (If we have accidentally left anyone out please let us know so that we can add you to our results list).

Dean Degan: 1st male 40-44 sprint, 59:27
Hannelore Paxton: 1st female 75-79 sprint, 1:52:00
