Rain didn’t stop play at the first BTC swim time trial of the 2019-20 season on Saturday afternoon. Well done to all 58 attendees who set out to swim their fastest possible time over the 1km course. And, yes…it was pretty much bang on 1km (thank you to Mark Preston for confirming 1,002 metres). Whilst rainy conditions never make any one feel like going to the beach, it did at least flatten out the lumps and bumps leading to the least choppy conditions we’ve seen at a swim TT for quite some time, albeit with low visibility under the water and a slight swell at the far end of the course (near the island). As a result, we saw some very fast times - check out all the results here.
Shout out to our podium getters…
Womens: 1st - Regan Garufi (15:03), 2nd - Ashleigh Kuznetsoff (15:35), 3rd - Louise Daffas (16:39)
Mens: 1st - Declan Garufi (13:30), 2nd - Shann Warner (13:43), 3rd - Bruce Thomas (14:24)
And special mention for our time keeper Jodie Osbourne, ably assisted as always by Josh Burns. And to the Bakers of Balmoral who brought a whole load of delicious goodies including home bake brownies, carrot cake, fruit, cheeses, chips and pies that we enjoyed tucking into after the swim. Thank you all!
