Looking to kick start your 2020? Join our wonderful Energy Link Performance coaches for a week of living like a pro triathlete (swim, bike, run, eat, sleep, repeat) whilst training at altitude alongside your tri buddies at the annual Energy Link Triathlon Training Camp in Jindabyne in the Snowy Mountains, NSW from Thursday 2 to Thursday 9 January 2020.
A reminder that our Saturday morning brick (bike run) training sessions are moving to Centennial Park from tomorrow Saturday 5 October, with a 6.30am start time.
From mid-October to the beginning of December, Mosman Juniors Rugby Club will be running their training sessions at Rawson Oval. Whilst we have managed to run our track training sessions at the same time as junior rugby training sessions in previous seasons, Mosman Juniors Rugby have advised that they are unable to share usage of the oval with us this season.
As a result, from Thursday 17 October to Thursday 5 December 2019 inclusive, BTC track training sessions will run at the slightly later time of 7.00pm to 9.00pm (rather than 6.30pm to 8.30pm).
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause our existing track training session attendees.
This change will also impact upon our 12-17 yrs Juniors Training Program attendees, who’s Block 1 track training sessions will now run from 7.00pm to 8.00pm (rather than previously advertised 6.30pm to 7.30pm).
If you have any questions or feedback in regard to this change, please do get in touch.
No, we don’t mean a house brick! ‘Brick’ is a training session where you train two or more disciplines, one after the other. Check out this article by Energy Link coach Bruce Thomas on the importance of brick training for triathletes…

Coach Lew had been kindly volunteering his time to run this sessions free-of-charge for BTC members for many years, but with increasing workload and coaching demands he now needs to step away. Do you have coaching experience and are interested in running these sessions? If so, please get in touch with committee.
Please be aware of the following changes regarding the change-over from Winter to Summer Brick training sessions.
Winter Brick (7.30am to 9.00am Saturdays @ BTC Clubhouse) was previously advertised as running until the end of August. This has now been extended until the end of September so that we can make the most of this beautiful beach-side venue for a few more weeks. THE LAST WINTER BRICK SESSION WILL NOW BE SATURDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER.
Summer Brick (6.30am to 9.00am Saturdays @ Centennial Park) was previously advertised as starting at the beginning of September. This has now been pushed back until the beginning of October, THE FIRST SUMMER BRICK SESSION WILL NOW BE SATURDAY 5TH OCTOBER.

Now that the cold weather has arrived, those that did Ironman Australia have had a good 6 weeks to recover and the Club prize giving has been and gone it got me thinking about the off season and what it means to most athletes. The above saying “Summer Races are won with Winter Training” couldn’t be any closer to the truth. However it’s also a time of year that is easy to let slide by without making any meaningful gains and it’s easy to just go through the motions and train for the sake of it. The key to a productive off season is to set yourself some goals so you have some clarity and purpose to what you are trying to achieve. It also makes getting out of bed on cold mornings a lot easier!
If you haven't been to one of our Friday Night Sunset Series before, its a timed training session, with a coach to run you through a warm up, and then any combination of one or more swims and runs.
Our swims are normally held inside the swimming enclosure at Balmoral Beach, so its a great way to get used to some open water swimming in a safe enclosure. Our run course is usually around 2kms, running from the swim enclosure across the park and around the oval.
We were really luck with the weather on Friday Night, it looked at risk of another wet and wild session, but the impressive Sydney storm had cleared by the time training started and we arrived at the beach to a stunning evening, no wind and a beautiful warm water.

The council have advised the club that our track training sessions on Thursday nights this season will be moved from Allan Border Oval, to Rawson Park Oval (where Mosman Rugby Club are located). Our first track session of the new season on the 3rd of September will be held here, and we will all meet at the new location.
Its a great spot for training, with the oval and access to some trails around George's heights. Roll on the new season !
There is a car park beside the oval, enter via Cross Street.
