Congratulations to all BTC clubbies who raced in the sprint distance and standard distance events at last weekend's ITU Age Group World Championships in Lausanne Switzerland, representing their home nations. By all accounts it was a tough course, with a choppy non-wetsuit freshwater swim, a technical and hilly bike course complete with some short sharp inclines up to 15%, and a twisty turn-y run course also with some hills. Here’s how all BTC finishers did…
A couple of weeks ago, club sponsor and physio Campbell Hanson of SquareOne Performance Physio & Pilates held an Injury Management & Prevention Clinic for club members. During the session, Campbell answered questions posed by attendees about their existing injuries and niggles, before showing attendees some rolling and trigger-point release tools and techniques, and taking attendees through a quick simple stretching routine - both intended to help improve mobility, aid recovery and avoid future injuries.
Winter brick is coming back! Perfect for those of you who are training for 70.3 or ITU World Championships, or even if you are just looking to improve or maintain your fitness over the winter months. Sessions will be run at the BTC Clubhouse so attendees will need to bring their own turbo trainer.
We had an absolutely stunning day for our 3rd and Final Swim TT of the season.
It was pretty choppy out there, there was rumours of blue bottles, we had to fight for space on the beach and in the water, but still everyone made the most of it and put in a great effort. Big thanks to Andrew Thomas from First National Real Estate Cremorne for his continued sponsorship of our Swim TT and the Club Champs weekend.
After Coach Waino and Coach Lew took our athletes for a warmup session, we started our 1km (ish) time trial which was 2 laps of the extended course. There was some dodging of windsurfers, people, blue bottles, but everyone came out unscathed.
Jack McPhee was quick out the blocks and did his best to stay on the toes of Quentin for as long as possible.
However Quentin, soon opened up a good gap and went on to take out the Mens division, with Jack McPhee in 2nd. Ilse Peterson, was 1st Female home and 3rd overall with a fantastic swim time, just beating 3rd place Male Derek Mulhearn (who had already competed and Won an aquathon on Saturday Morning). Andrea Pember was 2nd female and Lauren Bourke 3rd.
We had some great sprint finishes across the line, good to see some healthy competition among our BTC members - all the points count (and bragging rights).
