BTC Members at Port Macquarie Ironman 2018

Port Macquarie saw a major contingent of Balmoral members racing in the Ironman, both 70.3 and full Ironman. It was a pretty special weekend as there were also a number of people doing their first ever Ironman.

A shout out to the podium getters, Bobby Smale, Emily McPhee, Cam Dinnie and Campbell Hanson and a big congratulations to all those who took part, especially to the first timers.

The Balmoral results are below and the full results can be found on Multisport Australia

Balmoral Tri Club at the World Cross Triathlon – November 2016

The World Cross Triathlon is the ITU’s version of off-road triathlon along the same lines as the X-terra brand of racing with a 1500m swim, a 30k or thereabouts mountain bike and a 10k trail run. The 2016 incarnation was to be held at Lake Crackenback in the Snowy Mountains, NSW. The first time it has visited the Southern Hemisphere. Balmoral Triathlon Club was represented by myself (Michael Taylor) racing for Australia, Alan Burton racing for Ireland, Vince Lauwerier racing for France and Mathias Kienholz racing for Switzerland.

1km Swim Time Trial Results 8/10/16

It may have been a bit grey and choppy but the first swim time trial was still a huge success! Thanks to First National Cremorne for sponsoring the time trial and providing some awesome prizes. Thanks also to Chris from Energy Link for making sure we were warmed up properly and ready to give the time trial our best shot. Thanks to Josh, Jodie and Chris for timing and setting up!

BTC will be proudly represented by a big contingent of athletes at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships to be held on the Sunshine Coast on September 4. This race marks the start of the tri season in Australia and will be very hotly contested with over 3,000 athletes from around the world flocking to the sunshine state. We thought we'd check in and hear from our athletes who have trained through winter to be in tip top form for this weekend on what their training strategies have been and how they plan on getting up that famous hill on the new bike course. Good luck team BTC!

Summer Races are won with Winter Training

Summer Races are won with Winter Training

Now that the cold weather has arrived, those that did Ironman Australia have had a good 6 weeks to recover and the Club prize giving has been and gone it got me thinking about the off season and what it means to most athletes. The above saying “Summer Races are won with Winter Training” couldn’t be any closer to the truth. However it’s also a time of year that is easy to let slide by without making any meaningful gains and it’s easy to just go through the motions and train for the sake of it. The key to a productive off season is to set yourself some goals so you have some clarity and purpose to what you are trying to achieve. It also makes getting out of bed on cold mornings a lot easier!

BTC Awards 2015/2016

How lucky were we with the weather on Saturday Afternoon, the rain held off and we managed to get a few games of bowls in. It was great to see so many of our members join us for our annual awards party, we tried something a bit different this year, a more informal, family oriented afternoon so we hope you all enjoyed it. We certainly had a lot more people attend this year compared to previous years, and it was great to see all the kids enjoying themselves.

New Kit Designs

Thanks to all our members that took the time to vote and provide the committee with comments on our new Scody Kit. We had a great response, so thank you all.

More than 70% of respondents preferred the Dark Grey base to the White, and Design A (seen below) won over Design B.

At the moment we are anticipating the tri kits will be available in Mens & Womens and in a sleeved one piece, sleeveless one piece and sleeveless two piece (as seen below).

The team have also selected a new cycle kit for the club which will also be available to order via Scody. We are anticipating this design will be available  men and women's and both bibs and regular knicks.

Next steps for the committee are to get a sample of the design (just to do a last check) and also sample sizing sent to us (not necessarily in our design) in preparation for people to try on before ordering online.

We anticipate the order being open in July for 2-3 weeks with a view to having the kit at the start of the season (sept), once we have a clearer indication of dates we will update you all via newsletter/FB.
