Winter Triathlon Training in Sydney
11/07/2011 1:11:54 PM
During the season the club has had many requests about what training BTC will provide during the winter. In past seasons we did not host any formal training and athletes were left to their own devices. This year though we have changed things around and not only do we have a coached run and a coached open water swim session, we also have heaps of informal sessions where athletes get together and have a host of fun while keeping up the fitness.
Lew Hartley and Kent Lipman have listed some of these sessions below. Feel free to contact
Lew or the host and join in the fun.
Tuesday: Cycle spin session at the clubhouse, 6.30pm - hosted by Lew approx 1 hour - no cost – We’re celebrating Tour de France this month with some strength sessions which will build over the next 3 weeks. You’ll need your own indoor trainer and bicycle.
Tuesday: Not up for a spin class then join Jess for a swim squad at Fitness First, St Leonards - organised by
Jess Hansen – I don’t know the cost but have a chat to Jess.
Thursday: Road run squad from Allan Border Oval, 6.30pm - meet outside the change rooms - conducted by Energylink approx 1.5 hour - $5 – Bruce has really made us pick up our game over the last two Thursday nights!
Saturday: Run casual from Avenue and Military Roads, 7am - 45min/1 hour, some abs work – hosted by Kent Lipman - no cost
Saturday: Open water swim squad from the clubhouse, 2.45 for 3pm - wetsuit set - conducted by Energylink’s Bern Ward approx 1 hour - $5
Sunday: Casual cycle from the corner of Avenue and Military Roads, 7am - 2 hour to 3 hours - no cost - All abilities are welcome. Rest assured you won’t be left behind.
Also there is another group that leaves Cremorne MacDonalds (usually at 7am) and does a 70km loop taking in Church Point and McCarrs Creek with coffee at the end at Mosman. You will need to be able to complete 70kms in around 2 1/2 hours without too much effort and there are always at least 2-3 efforts along the way.
Please let Lew know if there are other training groups that we can add here - there’s always people looking to join in and we don’t want to give anyone a reason to lag behind come September!
Regards,
Lew.
