BTC Triathlon Series

The BTC Triathlon Series is a sprint triathlon series held on a scenic course at Middle Head in Mosman. The swim takes place in the sheltered waters of Obelisk Beach, before the cycle takes in multiple laps of Chowder Bay Road, and finally the run takes place in the historical barracks and beautiful bushland of Middle Head Reserve.

The BTC Triathlon Series races are great introductory triathlons for beginners and a fun hit out for experience triathletes on a traffic free course.  To enter, visit our events page. Our triathlon races are open to everyone!

COURSE OVERVIEW:

  • 400m swim – 1 lap course starting and finishing at Obelisk Beach

  • 15km bike - 5 laps of Chowder Bay Road

  • 4km run - 2 lap course on Middle Head Road and Middle Head Reserve bush tracks

PRICES & ENTRY:

  • $60.00 per race for BTC and Warringah Tri Club members

  • $70.00 per race for TA non BTC members

  • $75.00 for non BTC or TA members

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Transfer to another BTC race, in the same season, is available up to 7 days before the event. In the event of a race postponement then your entry will be transferred to another BTC race in the same season, as available. In the event of a cancellation then a full refund will be given. In the event of a course change, no refunds or transfers will be given.

Club Aquathlon

The Quinn Financial Planning Christmas Aquathlon is a swim-run-fun training session held down at Balmoral Beach on the evening of December 18th. Arrive by 6:00pm to register, with a scheduled session briefing of 6:15pm at transition. You can take part as an individual or in teams of two. You are free to decide exactly how you and your team mate share the swim and run legs.

Please note that time handicaps will be given to participants. These will be decided on the night by our skilled handicapper, who never gets these things wrong. You may be treated leniently if you wear Christmas gear!

Afterwards we will have a social drink with some food at the Clubhouse.

Our Aquathlon is open to everyone!

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The course consists of a swim lap followed by a run lap. This is repeated three times plus a final swim lap to finish

  • 150m per lap swim – 4 lap course starting south of the Balmoral Baths

  • 1.0km run - 3 lap course, running parallel to the shore, entering the oval by the basketball courts and completing one lap of Balmoral Oval before returning to transition.

PRICES & ENTRY:

  • The Aquathlon will be run as a training session: $6 for members, $10 for non-members.

RULES:

Swim Time Trials

BTC swim time trials are held three times during the triathlon season at beautiful Balmoral Beach.

Come along and test yourself in this fun, friendly event, earn yourself some points toward the prestigious BTC Age Group Competition, and stick around for drinks and nibbles afterwards.

COURSE OVERVIEW:

  • 1km swim – 2 laps around the yellow cans at the Southern end of Balmoral Beach

All participants MUST attend the pre-race briefing held at the BTC Clubhouse prior to the swim TT.

  • $6.00

  • No prior entry required. Register on the day at the BTC Clubhouse 2.30pm onward

  • Any TA member, who isn't part of BTC, can take part in the Time Trial for $10

Run Time Trials

Get ready for Mosman parkrun

On Saturday April 5th 2025 we will be taking part in the 5km Mosman parkrun as our last run TT of the season. This is a free event and the results will count toward the AG competition.

Register yourself with parkrun beforehand so that you receive a time. Register HERE Once registered then add Balmoral Triathlon Club as a group. Bring a scannable barcode of your registration with you on the day and the results are posted online, by parkrun, usually later that day.

Ensure you are at the Spit West Reserve, The Spit, Mosman by 6:40. The BTC tent will be onsite. This will give you time to warm up, and for any people new to parkrun to attend the first-timers’ briefing at 6:50am. Here’s the course and the run starts at 7am.

Please note that parkrun itself is not a race and to be courteous and respectful to all the participants and other park users.

If you would like to volunteer and help out then please let us know and we will coordinate with parkrun. Volunteering would also count toward the AG competition.


BTC run time trials are held three times during the triathlon season at Balmoral Oval, and are 5km in length.

Come along and test yourself in this fun, friendly event, and earn points toward the prestigious BTC Age Group Competition.

COURSE OVERVIEW:

  • 5km run – 8 laps around Balmoral Oval

Meet at the BTC Club house at 6:00am to register and for the pre-race briefing. All participants MUST attend the pre-race briefing. Warm up is included in the session.

  • $6.00

  • No prior entry required. Register on the day at Rawson Park Oval 6.00pm onward

  • Any TA member, who isn't part of BTC, can take part in the Time Trial for $10

Bike Time Trials

The Jet Cycling 120TTT & ITT is at Sydney Motorsport Park over 25km, (9 laps of the Druitt Circuit.)

The 120TTT is a handicap team trial for teams of 3-4. The ITT is an individual time trial. Both are open to current members of AustTri and AusCycling.

Date:

  • November 8th 2026

TIME:

  • First rider released at 6:15am

PRICES & ENTRY:

  • Individual Time Trial, $50

  • Team Time Trial, $45 per person

120TTT: How the Handicap works

No matter the male/female mix of the team and no matter the cumulative age of the team, every team stands a great chance of winning.

The handicap is two-fold:

Age - This works around a base cumulative team age of 120yrs. For every year below or above 120 for the cumulative team age you receive a +/- 3 second handicap.

Team Composition - For every extra female in the team there is a handicap of - 90secs.
